Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebate Program 2023
Have you heard about the new window rebate in Ontario? The Canadian Greener Homes Grant will now be delivered through Enbridge Gas for Ontario residents, effective January 2023.
You may have heard of the Greener Homes Grant from your friends or neighbours. It helped countless Canadians improve their home’s eco-friendliness by offering home efficiency rebates for projects such as redoing their insulation, replacing their windows or getting a new water heater.
If you’re worried that you’ve somehow missed out, you don’t need to! The new program has broadened access so that more Ontarians will qualify! While you’ll access it through Enbridge Gas, you can still meet the rebate criteria even if you’re not an Enbridge customer. You can receive money back to cover the cost of space heating, insulation, smart thermostats and new windows and doors, to name a few potential projects.
If you were considering renovating your home in 2023 and were counting on this program to help with costs, find out what this means for you.
Let’s take a closer look.
ENBRIDGE: DOORS AND WINDOWS REBATE IN ONTARIO – 2023
The new combined program will now be called the Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (or HER+ for short). The good news? You may qualify for higher rebates!
If you’re an Enbridge customer, you can receive a maximum of $10,000 with new incentives and those already on the rebate list if you qualify after a home assessment. If you are not an Enbridge customer, the maximum rebate amount you’ll receive through HER+ is $5000.
And if you own a rental or off-grid property, you’re still potentially eligible for the HER+ program.
If you’re a homeowner in Ontario, you’ll have to apply to the program through Enbridge. Applicants from prior to Jan 2023 will continue to access their information and forms through the previous Canada Greener Homes Grant portal.
TAKING ADVANTAGE OF HER+ FOR NEW WINDOWS AND DOORS
For a project that combines aesthetics with practicality, think windows and doors! For many homeowners, their older windows and doors can be a significant source of heat and energy loss.
Simply replacing your windows and doors with new, energy-efficient models can help you save money, an attractive prospect with the costs of living going up. If your windows and doors are identified as needing work through your energy assessment, you could qualify for a HER+ rebate for replacing them. You can receive up to $325 for each new Energy Star-certified window or door to offset purchasing and installation costs.
These rebates can help stretch your renovation budget further, allowing you to choose from a more comprehensive selection of windows and doors. Replacing your windows and doors involves limited downtime, improves your home’s livability, brings down costs, and makes a big visual impact on both the inside and the outside of your home.
HOW IT WORKS – HOW TO APPLY FOR THE WINDOW REBATE IN ONTARIO
The basics of the program are quite simple.
The rebate amounts can be significant, depending on the work you want to do for your home. You start by booking a home energy assessment with a Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) registered energy advisor.
The assessment will identify the areas where your home needs improvement in terms of energy efficiency. While this process isn’t free, you can receive up to $600 back through HER+ to cover the costs of this assessment.
Once the assessment work is done, you’ll receive a list of recommended home upgrades (like new windows and doors) to improve your home’s energy efficiency.
When you’ve completed one of the recommended upgrades, you request a follow-up assessment and submit the report to receive your rebate!
MAKING IT EASY: RECEIVING THE NEW DOOR AND WINDOW REBATE IN ONTARIO
At Torwin, we’ve partnered with an energy audit service to make the process seamless and turnkey. We know that while the rebate amount can be significant, it doesn’t take away from the time needed to research and book someone you trust to perform the assessment for you. Our clients are busy people with personal and professional obligations and don’t necessarily want to take on these administrative tasks on their own.
We’ve hand-selected an auditing company with the same level of expertise in home energy efficiency as we have in windows and doors to ensure our homeowners experience a detailed and thorough audit with results they can trust. They are NRCAN registered, and based on their recommendations, you can start planning your home renovations with confidence.
Any home upgrade tends to be costly, so knowing you can expect a rebate is a big help. You’ll likely be able to opt for upgraded models with improved functionality and a longer lifespan.
Imagine choosing triple-paned windows with premium hardware to elevate the aesthetic of your home, at the same price point as double-paned. Or, you can stick with a standard model, receive the rebate and direct your renovation budget to another area of your home. Either way, it’ll give you the breathing room you need to complete a big project without the usual stress on your finances.
Once we’re done with the installation, we’ll arrange for the audit company to return and evaluate the energy efficiency and performance changes in your home. We’ll submit the paperwork and ensure you qualify for the maximum rebate possible, with no additional input needed from you.
We’ve designed the entire process to be as turnkey as possible, with us handling the forms and checking the regulations, so you don’t have to!
At Torwin, we can help you select windows and doors that meet your budget while achieving the style and functionality you’re hoping for. We’ve also made qualifying for government energy rebates for installing new windows and doors as simple as possible.
